The sustainable and green landscaping will be planned using the “Wabi Sabi” way, shaping the grounds around the structure with the flow of the land and water to “emulate nature”, and also be functional and beautiful. In addition, the landscaping will prevent rainwater runoff into the Chesapeake Bay, and will be irrigated using rainwater to minimize the impact on the local water reservoir. The plants will be chosen carefully to require minimal water, and will look beautiful throughout all the seasons. Bevan Shimizu, who has a Masters degree from George Washington University for a Masters of Professionalism in Sustainable Landscape Design from Shimizu Landscaping helped handle the initial design. Below are some links explaining Wabi Sabi landscaping.
